No Physician–Patient Relationship

Use of this Site, viewing of its Content, downloading of any guide or material, or submission of a contact form does not create a physician–patient relationship between you and Dr. Cory Calendine, the Bone and Joint Institute of Tennessee, or any other provider referenced on this Site. Accessibility Statement

Cory Calendine, MD, and Brass Lantern Consulting Group are committed to ensuring that corycalendinemd.com is accessible to all visitors, including individuals with disabilities. We believe that everyone seeking information about orthopedic care, hip and knee replacement, and recovery should be able to access this Site fully and independently.

Conformance Target

This Site has been designed and is being built to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). WCAG 2.1 Level AA defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, motor, cognitive, and neurological differences.

Measures Taken

To support accessibility, the design and development of this Site incorporates the following practices:

  • Semantic HTML structure with logical heading hierarchy
  • Sufficient color contrast between text and background, evaluated against WCAG 2.1 AA contrast ratios
  • Descriptive alternative text for meaningful images
  • Keyboard navigability for interactive elements (links, buttons, form fields)
  • Visible focus indicators on interactive elements
  • Form fields with associated labels and clear error messaging
  • ARIA landmarks and attributes where appropriate
  • Responsive design that supports zoom and reflow on mobile devices and at high zoom levels
  • Captions or transcripts for video content where applicable
  • Avoidance of content that flashes more than three times per second
  • Plain-language writing style for patient-facing medical content

Known Limitations

Despite our best efforts to ensure accessibility, some content on this Site may not yet be fully accessible. Known limitations include:

  • Some embedded third-party content (such as social media feeds, scheduling widgets, or video players) is controlled by external providers and may not fully meet WCAG 2.1 AA standards.
  • Some downloadable PDFs and patient guides may not yet be fully tagged for screen readers. We are actively working to remediate these documents and can provide an accessible alternative format on request.
  • Older blog content and historical media files may not meet current accessibility standards. We are reviewing and updating these as part of ongoing site maintenance.

Ongoing Effort

Accessibility is an ongoing process, not a one-time project. We test new content and features against WCAG 2.1 Level AA criteria as part of our standard publishing workflow, and we periodically audit existing content for accessibility issues. As browsers, assistive technologies, and accessibility standards evolve, we will continue to improve this Site.

Feedback and Requests for Assistance

We welcome feedback on the accessibility of corycalendinemd.com. If you encounter an accessibility barrier, have difficulty accessing any portion of this Site, or would like to request information in an alternative format, please contact us. We aim to respond to accessibility feedback within five (5) business days.
