- Long-haul or international flights: wait at least 6 weeks, and often longer. Discuss the specifics at your post-operative visit.
The reason for the wait is not the implant or the screening. It is the elevated risk of deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot in the leg, during the early recovery window. Long periods of immobility on a plane increase that risk further.
